Assessment of students at St Mary’s College aims to provide opportunities for
students to
display their knowledge, skills and performance abilities in their areas of
study. Such displays need to be in accordance with guidelines of Work Programs
and the directions of the relevant authorities; namely the Queensland Studies
Authority, the Australian Quality Framework and Brisbane Catholic Education.
Assessment aims to be fair and just to each and every student, to allow them to
achieve at their highest possible level, to improve teaching and learning and to
be workable in the context of our local community of St Mary’s College Ipswich.
The Student Handbook contains detailed
information on the procedures in place at the College to implement the
Assessment Policy. Some changes in the procedures will occur in 2010. Text
messages to parents and guardians will replace many of the letters that would
have been sent. Text messages will be used if students do not submit a draft or
submit a draft of poor quality; when students miss a class test or an exam; when
an assignment is not submitted or an incomplete assignment is submitted.
Detailed information is found
in the Student
Handbook. Parents and guardians can assist in this process by keeping their
mobile number information up to date.
