CHAMPION HOUSE COMPETITION
Each year a competition between
our four houses is conducted with points allocated for all cultural, sporting and
participatory events by individual students. It is a fiercely competitive contest carried
on with true sportswomanship.
THE RULES
Aims:
- to promote enthusiasm in students towards school activities
- to promote school spirit
- to reward students for involvement in extra curricular activities and in College life.
Procedure:
Points will be allocated to each house for various
activities as detailed in this document.
Points will be totaled at the end of each month and progressive totals will be
announced at the first assembly of each month.
The house with the most points at the end of October will be named the St Mary's
Champion House for the year and will be presented with the trophy.
Points System:
- Interhouse swimming, cross country, athletics
- 1st 50 points, 2nd 40 points, 3rd 30 points, 4th 20 points
- Age champions - first 10 points, 2nd 8 points, 3rd 6 points
- Participation and spirit at Interhouse carnivals - 1st 50 points, 2nd 40 points, 3rd 30 points, 4th 20 points
- Representation in sport teams - school 5 points, region 10 points, state 15 points, Australia 25 points
- Representation in interschool non-sport teams (debating, public speaking, choir, titration, mooting.,
T.O.M.) - school 5 points, region 10 points, state 15 points, Australia 25 points
- Interhouse netball, chess, choir, Talent Quest, public speaking - first 50 points, 2nd 40 points, 3rd 30 points, 4th 20 points
- Performer or helper in Red Cross Appeal, Little Kings Concert, Open Day, Anzac Day, College Concert, Mercy Day - 5 points each student
- Conscientious participant in choir, College band, training for swiming, cross country and athletics. - 10 points each student
- Perfect attendance - 5 points each student
- Academic and effort awards, Sports Breakfast awards - 5 points each student
- Creative writers - 5 points each student
- Billeting - 10 points each student
- Helping with special events, sports events and liturgies - 5 points each student
- Cleanliness of PC room and grounds area: + or - 10 points per month
- Maths Competition, Science Competition, Chemistry Quiz, English Competition - High Distinction 10 points, Distinction 8 points, Credit 6 points
- Activity day Term 2 - Participation - 50, 40, 30, 20
