Frequently Asked Questions

Choosing a school is one of the most important decisions you'll make for your child. While every school offers learning opportunities, Catholic schools provide an education that nurtures the whole child academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually.

At our school, your child will be known, valued and supported as an individual. We strive to create a welcoming community where students feel a sense of belonging, develop strong relationships and are encouraged to become their very best version of themselves.

Catholic education is grounded in values such as compassion, respect, service, inclusion and justice. These values are woven through everyday school life, helping students grow into confident young people who care for others and make a positive contribution to their community.

We encourage families to submit your daughter's application when they are in Year 4, sending through NAPLAN and available school reports to support the application. Interviews will occur when students are in Year 5. If offered a place, your daughter will be invited to our GEMS (Girls Engaging in a Meaningful Start) transition program when they are in Year 6.

We welcome enquiries at any time and encourage families to connect with us early to learn more about our College community and enrolment process.

Offers are made within 2 weeks of the interview. Interviews commence when your student is in Year 5 and we run an interview day each term. At times, the number of applications we receive may be greater than the places available. If this happens, your application may be placed on our waitlist and we will keep you informed should a place become available.

While St Mary's College is a Catholic school, we are open to all families seeking a faith-based education in a welcoming and inclusive community. We celebrate the diversity of the families we serve and invite everyone to participate in and support the Catholic traditions, beliefs and values that guide our schools and enrich the educational experience of every student. Children who are baptised Catholic are given priority of enrolment at Brisbane Catholic Education schools.

If your child is placed on a waitlist, you will be kept informed throughout the enrolment process. If an availability arises, families will be contacted and offered a place where possible.

Absolutely! In fact, the best way to know whether our school is the right fit for your family is to experience it for yourself.

We encourage families to attend a school tour or Open Day to meet our staff, explore our learning environments, and get a feel for our community. It's a wonderful opportunity to ask questions and see firsthand what makes our school special. You can visit us during Open Week or sign up for a Principal's Tour. Visit our School Tours page to find out more.

We look forward to welcoming you and helping you discover whether our school is the right fit for your family.

We welcome students and families who share in the values and ethos of a Catholic education. Each application we receive is assessed on its merit however where limited availability exists, priority may be given to:

  • Students from Catholic families who are baptised or have a demonstrated commitment to the faith within their Parish community
  • A sibling of a current or past student of the school
  • A current student of another BCE Catholic school, other Catholic schools or Kindergartens managed by Catholic Early EdCare

Families are encouraged to review the BCE Enrolment Policy before submitting an application.

We are committed to supporting every student to thrive. Our specialist support staff work closely with families to understand each child's individual needs and, where required, develop personalised learning plans and programs that support their learning, wellbeing and success throughout their educational journey.

We believe every child deserves access to a high-quality education. We are committed to keeping our school fees affordable so more families can benefit from a Catholic education, regardless of their circumstances. You can learn more about fee assistance, family and sibling discounts, estimate your school fees, and find answers to common questions by visiting our School fee policy and Fee Information page.
